Having first entered college as a painter, Samantha put her brushes aside to keep up with the fast pace of the digital world. Towards the end of 2012 and after years of sticking with digital media and colored pencils, she found herself missing the feeling of applying a brush to a canvas. Not only that, but the odd torturous joy one could achieve by the mixing of colors on a palette tirelessly in an attempt to get just the right shade of any of a million colors floating in the mind. She had no idea what to do with the work she was creating, but knew that it felt good to do so.
At the start of 2014, Samantha tested the waters posting her work on social media, as well as slowly researching places where one may be able to show their art. Hesitant at first, she began to take the same attitude any freelance artist must in order to survive — submit your work, at worst they say no, at best they say yes. To her delight, there have been more “yays” than “nays.” This has allowed Samantha to bring to light another side of her creativity, apart from her commercial illustration and graphic design endeavors.
